What is the Priority Services Register?

Our Priority Services Register is a free support service for people who may be vulnerable – this may be because of their age, health, or disability, or if they’re going through a difficult time in their lives.

Who is eligible to enroll in the Priority Services Register?

You are eligible to register if you:

  • Are 65 and over

  • Are disabled or have a long-term medical condition

  • Are recovering from a hospital treatment

  • Have a mental health condition

  • Are pregnant or have children aged 5 and under (less than 6 years old)

  • Have extra communication needs (such as if you don’t speak or read English well).

By registering, you can receive services such as large print or Braille bills and free gas safety checks. We will also share your data with your network operator, who will get in touch if your electricity supply is going to be interrupted. They’ll help you figure out what to do to stay safe.

If you're not a homeowner, typically your landlord is responsible for ensuring the safety of your gas appliances. However, upon registering with our Priority Services Register (PSR), eligible individuals can access this service.

If accessing the safety valve on your gas meter proves challenging, or if managing your Pay As You Go meter is difficult, we offer solutions. We may relocate the meter for easier access or install a smart meter as an alternative.
